EU-harmonised inflation in Slovakia stood at 3% year-on-year in July, the Slovak Statistics Office announced on Monday. Meanwhile, the average harmonised inflation rate for the 12-month period ending in July 2019 amounted to 2.5%. As for monthly developments in July, the index of consumer prices was mainly influenced by increases in recreation and culture (by 0.11 percentage points (p.p.)), in postal services and telecommunications (0.07 p.p.), in transport - (0.06 p.p.), in miscellaneous goods and services (0.01 p.p.), in hotels and restaurants (0.01 p.p.), and in furniture, household equipment and regular household maintenance (0.01 p.p.). Conversely, downward pressure on prices month-on-month was exerted by the health-care sector (by 0.04 p.p.), in clothing and footwear (0.04 p.p.), and in food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.06 p.p.).
