After a complete renovation, the National Cancer Institute in Bratislava has opened the Department of Onco-Hematology I, which is focused on the treatment of cancer of the lymphatic system. More than 900 patients are admitted into the ward every year. "I think the premises are already similar to the European standard," Health Minister Andrea Kalavská said after opening the ward. The total modernization costs amounted to 336,000 euros including VAT. The complete renovation of the department, which covers more than 800 square metres, took three months. Two other hospitals in Bratislava will undergo reconstruction soon. Moreover, the hospital in Banská Bystrica is also being completely reconstructed, and partially the East Slovak Cancer Institute in Košice.
