The Slovak Transport Ministry is starting the liberalisation of railway tracks, wrote the Hospodárske noviny daily on Wednesday. Railway carriers can take part in competing for the first 21 kilometre-long track between the towns of Žilina and Rajec in north-central Slovakia. Companies have 30 days starting from the announcement on the ministry's website to register. The winner should operate its services there for ten years starting from February 2020. After the Žilina-Rajec track, the Bratislava-Komárno in western Slovakia and Košice-Moldava nad Bodvou in the east, will be offered into procurement.
