A total of 1,589 inhabitants of Slovakia filed for bankruptcy protection in July, which is historically the highest number of personal bankruptcies in a single month, according to the Slovak Credit Bureau. The July figure meant a 24 percent growth year on year. According to an analyst with Poštová Banka, Jana Glasová, the problem is people's high indebtedness, a low savings rate, or the unexpected loss of employment.
