The southern Slovak town of Štúrovo and the Hungarian town of Esztergom, laying on opposite banks of the Danube River will jointly operate the first international bike-sharing scheme in Europe, wrote the TASR press agency on Sunday. "This new form of public transport will help the towns to deepen their transport and social connection," said Štúrovo's mayor Eugen Szabó. As part of the project fourteen bike stations - six in Štúrovo and eight in Esztergom - will be built and the system will offer 105 bikes, including 45 electrical ones. The time of the start of the operation has not been published yet.
