Municipalities to report their energy consumption data

Representatives of cities and municipalities across Slovakia have until the end of March to send, for the first time, aggregated energy consumption data for the previous year to the monitoring system for energy efficiency. This is intended to help municipalities conserve energy.

“Only if we know the current state of affairs and the real energy consumption in municipalities will we be able to adjust optimum implementation of various support measures to reduce energy consumption and to evaluate their contribution”, said the Director General of the Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA) Svetlana Gavorová at a meeting with representatives of the Association of Towns and Villages of Slovakia (ZMOS). “Energy consumption in municipalities should help to adjust the level of financial support from structural funds in the programming period 2014-2020”, said Milan Muška of ZMOS. The introduction of a monitoring system is the result of the European directive on energy end-use efficiency and energy services.
