Cooperation between Hungarian parties still open

On Friday, the head of the Most-Híd Slovak-Hungarian party Béla Bugár confirmed that his party is still holding cooperation talks with the extra-parliamentary ethnic-Hungarian Party of Hungarian Coalition (SMK). SMK's press secretary Helena Fialová stated that "a coalition (between the parties) appears to be on the horizon, however, SMK also has its conditions". The Most-Híd presented its basic conditions for cooperation to SMK on Monday. "If SMK adopts an opinion on our conditions, we'll meet around the negotiating table, probably in mid-August," stated Bugár. Most-Hid vice-chair Ábel Ravasz stated on Monday that if there was no agreement between the parties, they would have to run separately in the 2020 general election. "SMK is an ethnic party, Most-Hid is rather an inter-ethnic party. These facts can't be changed," he noted.
