Survey: One in 6 Slovaks has no financial reserves

According to a survey carried out by Kantar Slovakia on a sample of almost 2,100 respondents, one in six Slovaks on average has no financial reserves, with Slovaks younger than 24 years saving the least. The survey showed that 16 percent of the respondents have no financial reserves at their disposal. If they do have reserves, in the highest number of cases (37 percent) the reserve amounts to three of their monthly salaries, while 14 percent have reserves worth four to nine salaries. Only 7 percent stated that their reserves equal at least their yearly income. The highest number of Slovaks with savings can be found in the Banska Bystrica region (25 percent), while the Nitra region is at the other end of the spectrum, as only 10 percent of Nitra locals admitted to having no savings. Almost 60 percent of the respondents stated that they save a fixed amount of money on a monthly basis. Almost every other respondent (48 percent) aged 16-24 admitted that they do not save money. This group, however, includes income-less students.
