The European Commission appointed Dušan Chrenek as its Principal Advisor for Energy Union Governance at Directorate-General for Climate Action on Wednesday. Chrenek, formerly the head of the European Commission's Representation in Slovakia, will be tasked with governing contributions towards the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, increasing the share of renewable energy sources and striving for higher energy efficiency. According to Chrenek, Europe has what it takes to set an example of fighting against climate change. Moreover, he sees becoming the first-ever climate-neutral continent as the greatest challenge and opportunity of the contemporary era.
