The state-run rail freight company Cargo Slovakia (ZSSK Cargo) and the trade union have agreed on reduced working weeks. Selected staff will have their working hours cut to four days per week as of August 1 and will be paid 60 percent of their salaries for the day removed. This is only one of the saving measures that the company is adopting in reaction to the recession in the metallurgical industry. "The measure will contribute towards cutting costs, given the notable drop in services and sales. This system will allow us to meet the requirements of our customers more efficiently," stated ZSSK Cargo general manager Martin Vozár.
