73,100 foreigners were working in Slovakia at the end of June, up 26 percent in comparison to the same period of last year, according to the Slovak Labour Office. The number of foreigners working in Slovakia, however, grew at a slower pace in the first half of this year than in the same period of 2018. A stronger upsurge was reported by Ukrainians whose number reached 18,200 people, meaning that one in four foreigners working in Slovakia comes from Ukraine. The largest group of EU nationals were Romanians (9,800), followed by Czechs (5,900) and Hungarians (5,400).
