More than 30 foreign embassies based in Slovakia are highlighting the commitment to protect and defend the human rights of all people without distinction. In a joint statement regarding the upcoming Pride celebrations, they are encouraging the Slovak government to support initiatives to increase tolerance in Slovak society. According to the embassies, the rainbow marches that will take place in Slovakia will celebrate the "significant benefits of LGBTI+ people for society and promote respect for all people". Neither President Zuzana Čaputová nor Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini will take part in the LGBTI Rainbow Pride or the Proud of the Family March, which will take place simultaneously in Bratislava on Saturday, July 20. Čaputová's spokesperson Martin Strižinec stated that even though the president would not take part in either of the events, she "respects the efforts of all communities and minorities to engage, to draw attention to their rights actively and to exercise their right to freedom of expression".
