The latest analyses of the soil at the earthworks used for the construction under the Bratislava bypass indicate that it contains asbestos which is a forbidden substance, announced the Transport Ministry on Wednesday. The substance was found in the samples from the three latest measurements.
"Once in the ground, asbestos is not a threat for health, however, manipulation with it is dangerous, and it should not have been used," commented the Ministry, adding that it would take steps to remove all forbidden material from the construction site. "The concessionaire must carry out this work at its own expense," said Transport Minister Árpád Érsek.
