The food industry in Slovakia in 2018 achieved a positive economic result of €114.5 million before taxes, which is an increase of 15.1% year-on-year, the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry has reported. Total revenues dropped by 0.8% y-o-y to €4.630 billion while costs fell by 1.1% y-o-y to €4.516 billion.
The highest positive result was achieved in the beverage industry (€74.8 million), which was followed by the production of other food products (€40.3 million), the processing and preserving of meat and production of meat products (€24.6 million) and the manufacture of bakery and flour-based products (€21.4 million).
