The Minister of Agriculture Gabriela Matečná (SNS) criticized President Zuzana Čaputová for expressing concerns about respect for human rights in China addressed at a personal meeting with the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs earlier in the week. Matečná considers that such statements jeopardize Slovak milk exports to China and close doors for Slovak entrepreneurs in that country. She added that the Slovak government wishes to have friendly relations with China, not confrontation. Later on Friday Martin Strižinec a spokesperson for the President rejected the accusation that Čaputová's statements are endangering Slovakia's business interests. "They are in line with the official position of the European Union in this respect," he said.
