Justice Minister Gábor Gál (Most-Hid) stated on Tuesday that he won't comment on the fact that far-right People's Party Our Slovakia (LSNS) MP Stanislav Mizík was acquitted of extremist charges on the same day by the Supreme Court, in an appeal brought by the Special Prosecutor's Office. He noted, however, that neither he nor his party view LSNS as a democratic part of the opposition even if courts find the party to be "non-extremist", according to ministry spokesperson Zuzana Drobová. She added that the minister generally doesn't address the rulings of courts, as they are independent and he respects their decisions. Charges of extremism were brought against Mizík after he participated in drafting a text document with offensive content in January 2017, which was later published on Facebook. The text criticised then-president Andrej Kiska for granting state awards to people of Jewish origin.
