Slovakia supports Croatia adopting the euro

Slovakia supports Croatia's intention to adopt the euro currency, said Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický (Smer-SD) before the meeting of the so-called Eurogroup, a gathering of Finance Ministers of EU countries already using the euro. Last week, Croatian Finance Minister Zdravko Marič announced that his country was to submit an official request to join the ERM-2 exchange rate mechanism, which is considered a "waiting room" for euro membership. The request of the Croatian party must be assessed by other euro area countries, at the level of finance ministers.
