Slovak teachers don’t have enough time

Slovakia has enough teachers, however they don't have enough time for activities other than teaching, according to Andreas Schleicher, the OECD's Director for Education and Skills. Schleicher is in Bratislava for the "European 21st Century Teacher" conference, which he is attending along with Slovak Education Minister Martina Lubyová. The aim of the conference is to create space for teachers to share their knowledge and experience. Schleicher maintains that besides teaching itself, teachers should also have time for self-education. "The future of education lies in much more complex skills, it's not only about memorising but about how to make use of one's skills," he added. Both Schleicher and Lubyová agreed that Slovak teachers don't share their knowledge among themselves enough, and that they are often isolated in their profession. The conference continues until Thursday.
