Starting teachers and lecturers will see their salaries rise as of September, as an amendment to the law on the remuneration of certain employees carrying out work for the public interest proposed by the Slovak National Party (SNS) was approved by Parliament on Wednesday. As of September 1, 2019, the base salary will increase by 9.5 percent. Following the proposed changes, the growth in salaries dependent on seniority will also be changed. Starting teachers' salaries will increase by € 76.50. While today starting teachers' salary is set at 805 euros, it will be 881,50 euros after September 1. The increase of salary factors for starting university lecturers and research and development staff has also been approved within the amendment.
