On Wednesday, the police intervened again on the construction site of the Bratislava bypass. The intervention, according to the information in the media, was reportedly related to the suspicion that contaminated soil or construction waste had been used for the construction of the D4/R7. The police later told TASR that in this case it had conducted criminal prosecution in the matter of the crime of endangering and damaging the environment and the crime of illegal waste disposal. In this context, the police had already intervened in the Bratislava region at the end of March. The Transport Minister Arpad Erskek says that suspicions about the construction of the Bratislava bypass must be clarified as soon as possible. The concessionaire of the Bratislava bypass project, Zero Bypass Limited, and the main construction contractor, D4R7 Construction, ruled out any land contamination or the use of materials that might pose an environmental danger in any way, shape or form, adding that the company is fully co-operating with the police.
