Slovakia's Security Council is on standby said the Government’s press department, adding that currently they are monitoring the country's border with Ukraine, and for now no increase in the number of migrants from Ukraine has been registered.
The Slovak government expressed its deep concern over violence that erupted on the streets of Kiev, which resulted in many casualties and hundreds of injuries. These were the bloodiest clashes since the outbreak of demonstrations against President Viktor Yanukovych. The Slovak government condemns all forms of violence and demands an immediate halt of all violence and calls for restraint. Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák claims that the EU should adopt targeted measures against individuals responsible for the violence in Ukraine.
