An amendment to the law on road traffic drawn up by the Transport Ministry and approved by the Government on Wednesday tightens the ban on using devices when driving and focuses more attention on young drivers. According to the legislation, drivers will be allowed to make calls via hands-free devices, but non-hands-free phone calls inside vehicles will be banned. The ban will also include other telecommunications, audiovisual and similar devices. The fines for infringing these rules will be doubled. The legislation also changes the definition of a scooter driver. People riding scooters with auxiliary motors will be viewed as drivers of non-motor vehicles. The current legislation sees them as pedestrians.
