“The Kite” awarded at Annecy film festival

The animated short film "The Kite", directed by Martin Smatana, has received the Young Audience Award at the prestigious International Animated Film Festival in Annecy. The Czech-Slovak-Polish film, about those who are no longer among us, competed against 3,096 films from 93 countries around the world. "Last year, when we were filming in difficult conditions for several months, the only dream that kept us alive and drove us forward was that it could make it to the Annecy festival. But even in our dreams we did not imagine that it would win a prize there. In the end, it won the children's audience award, which is perhaps the greatest satisfaction for us, because the children audience is honest, does not pretend, and sometimes can be quite uncompromising," said filmmaker Martin Smatana.
