On Saturday, Zuzana Čaputová took up her post as Slovakia's president as the first woman to do so in the country's history. Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini said he was looking forward to cooperating with her. Speaker of Parliament Andrej Danko expressed the wish that she might help people to find the truth, to preserve the national identity and humanity. Danko also delayed the moment of swearing the presidential oath by giving a speech instead of just opening the Parliamentary session. According to the constitution, this act is supposed to take place at noon; however, it came seven minutes later. Former Prime Minister and chair of the largest governing SMER-SD party Robert Fico did not attend the ceremony.
