Despite falling popularity, Smer-SD still the strongest party

Had a general election taken place in Slovakia in June, it would have been won by the current main governing party Smer-SD, albeit with less than 20 percent of the votes (i.e. on 19.7 percent), with Progressive Slovakia (PS)-Together coalition the runner-up on 17.8 percent and the far-right People's Party Our Slovakia (LSNS) third on 12.5 percent. This stems from the results of the Focus agency poll published on Wednesday. Five more parties would make it to Parliament. An interesting finding is, however, that the ruling coalition Slovak-Hungarian party Most-Híd would not make it into the Parliament, as only 4.4 percent of respondents support it. With the Hungarian Community Party (SMK) on 3.7 percent, the next general election might result in no ethnic Hungarian party present in the Slovak Parliament.
