The Ministry of Finance has submitted a draft amendment to the Tax Code according to which those who have failed to pay their income tax could lose their driving license until the debt is paid. In the text of the proposal, the ministry highlights that the measure is meant to be primarily preventative in nature. However, Dana Droppová of the Slovak Chamber of Tax Advisors has pointed out that such a measure could result in making matters worse, especially in cases where the taxpayer's profession is linked to a driving license and its removal would result in a loss of income, making it less likely that the taxpayer would be able to pay off the debt.
