Average monthly salary reached €1,023

The average nominal monthly salary in Slovakia reached €1,023 in the first quarter of this year, up by 7.1 percent year-on-year, the Statistics Office reported on Thursday. The fast pace of the average wage increase has taken analysts by surprise as they have not seen something similar since 2008. The Bratislava region is the only one with a higher-than-average monthly salary €1,310 while the region of Prešov (Eastern Slovakia) recorded the lowest average salary at €777. The highest average nominal monthly salaries were in financial and insurance activities at €2,021 followed by ICT with €1,886, and supplies of electricity, gas and steam at €1,817. Conversely, the lowest average nominal salaries were recorded in construction at €707 and accommodation and catering services at €572.
