The average retirement pension in Slovakia reached €399.30 per month at the end of January. Compared to the same period last year it has increased by a meagre €12.
Almost a million Slovaks are receiving retirement pensions in Slovakia. Sociologists have long worried that the low level of pensions make retired people dependant on the financial support of other family members as otherwise they face poverty.
