Bratislava will be the 'judiciary capital of the European Union' this week from Wednesday to Friday, with more than 100 foreign guests from over 20 countries, including prominent academics and law professionals, attending a general assembly in the capital. The event will be attended by Justice Minister Gábor Gál (Most-Hid) and other members of the European network of judicial councils, which are made up of member institutions of European Union countries. The United Kingdom will also be represented despite the upcoming Brexit. The results of a survey on the question of judicial independence will be published for the first time at the general assembly. The assembly will also issue a so-called Bratislava Manifesto, which will include an appeal for the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary to be observed throughout the European Union.
