Two thirds of Roma children not in kindergartens

Only one in three Roma children in Slovakia attend kindergarten, said the Government's Plenipotentiary for Roma Community Ábel Ravasz on Monday. He said that neighboring countries have solved this issue by introducing compulsory pre-school attendance and Slovakia will not avoid this scenario. Therefore, Ravasz together with the eduRoma civic association and the Slovak Governance Institute is introducing a project to strengthen capacities for pre-school education. The outcome of the project will be a guide for municipalities on the effective management of kindergartens.
