The financial liabilities of Slovakia's population as at March 31, 2019 totalled €36.6 billion. This stems from a report published on Thursday by Crif-Slovak Credit Bureau (Crif SK), which operates the credit registries of banking and non-banking bodies. 71.3 percent of the total debt is made up of housing loans and more than a quarter, 28.7 percent, are consumer loans. One in three of the adult population of Slovakia was indebted. "Slovakia has become a leader in the indebtedness of the population throughout the region, despite the currently diminishing dynamics of consumer credit growth," said the company's managing director Jan Budinsky at a meeting with the media in Bratislava on Thursday. There are more than 4,4 million people over the age of 18 in Slovakia, which means that the average level of financial liabilities per adult citizen of Slovakia is almost €8,250.
