Changes in the Labour Code for posted workers

As of the end of July 2020, foreign employees posted to Slovakia should be entitled to the same additional mandatory wage components as Slovak employees receive. These include, for example, wage benefits for work, compensation for food, accommodation, and travel expenses coverage in the case of a business trip. A "posted worker" is an employee who is sent by his employer to carry out a service in another EU Member State on a temporary basis, in the context of a contract of services, an intra-group posting or a hiring out through a temporary agency. The new provision stems from the draft amendment to the Labor Code, which was approved by the Slovak government on Wednesday. This amendment transposes into the Slovak legislation the EU Posting of Workers Directive.
