Bridge between Komarno and Komarom to open next year

Following last year's slight delay, work on construction of a new cross-border bridge over the Danube River is fully underway, Transport Minister Árpád Érsek (Most-Hid) said after visiting the construction sites on both the Slovak and Hungarian sides on Tuesday. Érsek confirmed that the Slovak and Hungarian ministries will do their best to complete work on the bridge - which is to link the Slovak town of Komarno (Nitra region) and the Hungarian town of Komarom - as soon as next year. The joint project of the two countries is being co-financed from EU funds, in particular the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The total cost of the project has been budgeted at over €117 million. Slovakia acquired over €47 million from EU funds, while Hungary expects a contribution of over €52 million.
