Not all universities in Slovakia have increased the salaries of their teachers in accordance with the results of previous negotiations, even though more than €10 million was allocated to this cause from state coffers Finance Minister Peter Kažimír was referring to information from school trade unions representatives.
Based on last year's negotiations between school trade unions and the Government, all university employees were supposed to see their salaries upped by €16 a month as of the beginning of this year. In addition, teaching staff at universities were entitled to an additional 3 percent to their salaries as of January 2014. “Not all employees could see a rise in their salaries in February. Nevertheless, the crucial thing to remind ourselves here is that universities have their own autonomy as legal entities,” added Kažimír.
