The elite National Crime Agency (NAKA) searched a bar in the centre of Bratislava on Friday morning as part of an investigation into past snooping on journalists by certain elements within the police, the police reported on their Facebook profile on the same day. They stated that they had learned during the course of the investigation that items important to their criminal proceedings could be present at the location. The Interior Ministry's Internal Affairs investigator has launched a criminal investigation over the misuse of the powers of public officials and unauthorised handling of personal data, in the case of the illicit screening of reporters, including investigative journalist Jan Kuciak, who was murdered along with his fiancée Martina Kusnirova last year.
