Countries in eastern Europe are still lagging behind western ones in terms of payment discipline, according to the European Payment Practices 2018 study conducted by the EOS KSI company. Moreover, Slovakia scored the worst from the whole of Europe. The study indicates that 27% of the payments in the country came late or never. On the contrary, Denmark ended first in the ranking with 15%. The average in eastern Europe was at a level of 22% and 19% in the west.
"Late or no payments can seriously harm the cash flow of companies," said Michal Šoltes of EOS KSI Slovakia. The study was conducted in spring 2018 in 17 European countries. Slovakia was included in 'the eastern group' with Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Russia. 'The western group' included Germany, France, Spain, Denmark, Great Britain, Belgium and Switzerland.
