More than 81 percent want marriage defined as between a man and a woman

As many as eight out of ten people in Slovakia (81.7 percent) would like to see the institution of marriage defined as a unique union of one man and one woman in the Constitution.

The same amount of people agree there should be also amending in the Constitution saying that “The Slovak Republic protects marriage universally and contributes towards its well-being”, according to a public opinion poll carried out for the Christian Democrats (KDH) by the Focus polling agency. Only 13.4 percent of the respondents in the survey were against the aforementioned definition. The survey was carried out on a sample of 1,050 respondents aged over 18.
