Hockey jerseys to feature state coat of arms

The Slovak national team will wear jerseys dominated by the state coat of arms, with the popular associations' logo on the shoulder. "After extensive debates that escalated all the way to Parliament, we decided to tackle this by playing in similar jerseys to those we had in the past. The players need to have peace of mind during the World Championships and are certainly not interested in any controversy. That's why we concluded this issue by opting for jerseys with the Slovak coat of arms," said Team Slovakia's General Manager Miroslav Šatan. Parliamentary Chair Andrej Danko (Slovak National Party/SNS), who was the main opponent of the new logo, welcomes the gesture by the Slovak Ice-Hockey Association. The 2019 World Ice-hockey Championship hosted by Slovakia begin on May 10.
