The protection of nature and the climate are not priorities for most of the parties running for European Parliament, warn the SOS/BirdLife Slovakia and the WWF Slovakia companies. "Most of them put no stress on merging the goals of agriculture and protection of environment and biodiversity," said Ján Gúgh of SOS/BirdLife Slovakia. As the TASR agency wrote, Most-Híd and Together-Progressive Slovakia are the only parties, which have the protection of biodiversity, ecosystems and climate as priorities in their programme. Apart from studying the programmes, the companies also send questionnaires to candidates. Out of nine parties, the candidates of only six ones replied - Christian Democrats, Together-Progressive Slovakia, Most-Híd, Freedom and Solidarity, We are Family and Ordinary people.
According to a survey conducted by the Ipsos MORI Observer company for the European Climate Foundation in January, nature protection is as important to Slovaks as is stopping tax fraud.
