With an unemployment rate of 2.9 percent, the region of Bratislava ranked last year among those with the lowest unemployment rates in the European Union, according to the latest Eurostat data. The region of the Slovak capital is outperforming not only other regions in the EU but the rest of the country too. Last year, unemployment was at 4.3 percent in western Slovakia, 7.5 percent in central Slovakia, and 10.1 percent in eastern Slovakia. Prague had the lowest unemployment rate among all 280 evaluated regions of the European Union, with 1.3 percent.
