New Land Rover Defender to be produced in Nitra

The Jaguar Land Rover car plant in Nitra will be producing the new model of Land Rover Defender, the TASR press agency reports on Tuesday citing the company's management. The world premiere of the new Defender is slated to take place at the end of this year. British carmaker Jaguar Land Rover, owned by India's Tata Motors, officially opened its plant in the city of Nitra, western Slovakia last autumn. The company has invested €1.4 billion in Slovakia and received state aid approved by the European Commission at the level of €125 million. Moreover, indirect aid in the form of building infrastructure should reach €500 million. Over 1,500 employees are currently working at the Nitra-based plant.
