Two far-right MEPs could be elected in Slovakia

Polls indicate that the far-right People's Party Our Slovakia (ĽSNS) could gain two seats out of the 14 reserved for Slovak MEPs following the late-May elections to the European Parliament (EP), said analyst from Comenius University in Bratislava Pavol Baboš. Moreover, Dionyz Hochel, acting director of the European Parliament Office in Slovakia pointed to surveys which indicate that radical and anti-system parties accros the entire EU could make it into the EP. However, according to Hochel, it doesn't seem that they could be able to paralyse the legislative body.

Slovakia has had the EU's lowest turnouts in all three EP elections since it joined the Union in 2004. Last time the figure reached 13%. According to survey carried out by the Focus agency in January 27% of the respondents definitely wants to vote in the elections. However, according to Baboš, this is different to the actual decision on the day of election.
