The Slovak U18 ice hockey team was relegated from the elite category after a 3:6 loss against Switzerland in Umea, Sweden, where the World Championship is taking place. Germans will replace Slovaks in the elite category in 2020. Thus, Slovaks will play in the IA Division for the first time since 2012, when they spent one year in the lower category and bounced back among the elite on the first try.
