Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak (a Smer-SD nominee) made an appearance on Thursday at a section called "Interconnectivity of Policies". It was carried out by The National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China in the framework of the second forum of the Belt and Road initiative in Beijing. The minister mentioned the economic situation in Slovakia, adding that it is among the fastest growing countries in the eurozone, also thanks to the firmly established car industry in the country. At the same time he noted that the Government needs to increase the investments in rail transport with the aim of maximising Slovakia's transit potential.
