Traffic restrictions in Bratislava in connection to hockey tournament

Bratislava is finishing up with the preparations for the 2019 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championships, which Slovakia hosts on May 10-26. In connection to the sports event, Bratislava residents and visitors will have prepare for several restrictions and extraordinary measures. According to the mayor of Bratislava Matúš Vallo, those will be mainly special traffic and security measures. The police will increase the number of patrols in the immediate vicinity of the Ondrej Nepela Stadium, stretching all the way to the Trnavské mýto transport hub and surrounding residential areas. Traffic restrictions will be in place in a regulated traffic zone around the stadium, where only residents of the regulated zone will be allowed to enter the zone by car. The City Hall also plans to add extra public transport possibilities, moreover, match ticket holders will have free public transport on the given day.
