Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) will pay a visit to the United States next week and will meet US President Donald Trump at the White House on Friday (3 May), it was reported on Wednesday. According to the prime minister's spokesperson, Patrícia Macíková, the two will discuss a range of issues with an emphasis on economic and defence cooperation. She added that the United States is the tenth most important market for Slovak exporters, and that US firms are among the most significant investors in Slovakia. The last time a Slovak prime minister met with a US president was when then-premier Robert Fico met with President Barack Obama in November 2013. Previous to that, the White House hosted Prime Minister Mikulas Dzurinda in March 2006.
