Milan Rastislav Štefánik, a Slovak historical figure, politician and diplomat, will appear on collector's coins as well as on a postage stamp to mark the centenary of his death, it was announced on Tuesday. On Thursday (April 25), the Slovak Central Bank (NBS) plans to issue two coins - a silver collectors' coin worth €10 and commemorative €2 coin - with the Štefánik theme. The Slovak post office will join the initiative by issuing a postage stamp and a similarly themed envelope with postal and rubber stamps. Slovak politician, diplomat and scientist M.R. Štefánik participated in shaping the Czecho-Slovak revolt during WWI, and was one of key persons in the founding of the Czechoslovak Republic in 1918. His life ended prematurely in a plane crash on May 4, 1919.
