A total of 25 candidates have applied for the posts of Constitutional Court judges in what will be the third round of selection, according to parliamentary Constitutional Committee chair Robert Madej (Smer-SD). Only three of them are new candidates, the rest being those who failed to gather enough votes from MPs in the previous two rounds. The first vote saw no one elected, whereas eight candidates were selected by lawmakers in the second round, from whom President Andrej Kiska is to pick four names. However, the Constitutional Court still remains understaffed, with only four judges on the bench out of thirteen. The vote for Constitutional Court judges is on the agenda of the May parliamentary session, scheduled to begin on May 9.
