There are currently 1,500 vacant positions in the Police Corps, for which there is a shortage of candidates. According to Interior Minister Denisa Saková (Smer-SD), it is appropriate to deal with the question of police officers' salaries, even though they have already increased by 10% this year and additional 10% hike is guaranteed for next year. She admits that the housing policy issue is also urgent and wants to deal with it more efficiently, together with newly named Chief of Police Milan Lučanský.
