According to a poll from the Focus polling agency, the second round of presidential elections would see polling favourite Prime Minister Robert Fico pushed aside by presidential hopeful Andrej Kiska in the second round of upcoming presidential elections.
According to the poll, if presidential elections were held this weekend, Kiska would have 53.7 percent and Fico would have 46.3 percent of votes in the second round. Another view of presidential candidates in a hypothetical first round would be similarly tight with the survey ranking Radoslav Procházka with 10.8 percent of the vote, followed by Milan Kňažko (9.5 percent), and Pavol Hrušovský (9.3 percent). Following behind them would be Gyula Bárdos (5.6 percent), Ján Čarnogurský (3.7 percent), Helena Mezenská (2.5 percent) and Viliam Fischer (1.2 percent). The remaining presidential candidates would have received in the first round less than one percent. Jan Jurišta would have 0.7 percent, 0.6 percent Jozef Behýl, Milan Melník 0.3 percent and finally Stanislav Martinčko and Jozef Šimko both with 0.1 percent. The number of those polled was 1,051 respondents, representing Slovakia's population aged over 18, and categorised in terms of gender, age, education, nationality, size, municipality, and county.
